First off, this is the oldest museum in Michigan, and it holds a lot of history within it. The GRPM offers rotating exhibits that are always so intriguing and definitely worth checking out. Your visit to the Grand Rapids Public Museum will be a memorable one, and we can speak from experience!
There’s something so beautiful and serene about any art museum, and the GRAM encompasses just that. Spend an afternoon letting your creativity admire the creativity of others whose work is in this iconic Grand Rapids museum
On a sunny day, we could spend hours in this beautiful place. The sun peeks through the windows in the greenhouses and shines down on the beauty of the outdoor exhibits. Frederik Meijer Gardens offers a variety of exhibits, some being seasonal, that keep you wanting to spend every Saturday afternoon there.
Grand Rapids appreciates art well, and it’s displayed in a variety of different ways all throughout the city. The big red sculpture you’ll find here is titled “La Grande Vitesse,” which is French for “the great swiftness” or “the grand rapids”. (Otherwise known as the Calder)
Van Andel is the biggest arena and concert venue in the city and is home to concerts, events, and the Grand Rapids Griffins, the local hockey team. A fun night is made here with friends and family and if you’ve never been to an event held at this venue, your definitely going to want to add that to your list!
Grand Rapids really knows how to have a wonderful balance of music, arts, architecture, activities, and sports. GR brings so many people in from the sports teams they are home to, such as the Grand Rapids Griffins, the West Michigan Whitecaps, and the Grand Rapids Gold. The Griffins are GR’s hockey team, and the Gold is GR’s basketball team that both play at Van Andel Arena, and the Whitecaps are GR’s baseball team that plays at LMCU Ballpark.
The Blue Bridge is what I like to think of as the face of GR. This gorgeous blue-painted arch over the Grand River is the perfect place for pictures and is also known as an iconic place to get engaged! We love the Blue Bridge and so will you!
Rosa Parks Circle is home to so many fun GR events! In the winter, you’ll find an ice rink here where you can enjoy a beautiful winter evening in the heart of downtown GR, and in the other months of the year you’ll find a variety of other activities such as swing dancing, concerts, food trucks, and so much more!
